Evaluation of Inhibitors in the Corrosion of AISI 304 Stainless Steel by FC-196 Aqueous Film-Forming Foam Concentrate,

Abstract

An accelerated corrosion test employing rubber band-gridled coupons, the 'NRL Rubber Band Test,' was used to determine corrosion characteristics of 304 stainless steel in FC-196, a 3-M Company mixture of fluorine-substituted organic compounds used to generate aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) for fire control on Navy ships.
