Family Financial Protection for a Retiring Member of a Uniformed Service.
Abstract
The thesis develops a systematic method to aid a retiring member of a uniformed service in the decision making required to provide family financial protection in case of his death. The method presented aids in the selection and preference ranking of options of the Retired Serviceman's Family Protection Plan and/or other commercial life insurance methods. Present value criteria and methods are discussed and used in comparison calculations of the various protection method available to a serviceman. The thesis findings of the preference order of obtaining financial protection methods are the result of many case comparisons. The methodology of finding a preference order, including a cost/benefit ranking computer program, is provided so an individual can use personal family factors such as his age, wife's age, number of children, etc.
