Effect of Cyclic Straining on the Diffusivity of Zinc in a Magnesium-5.1%Zinc-0.6%Zirconium Alloy.

Abstract

The work shows that cyclic straining at 310C enhances the diffusivity of zinc in Mg-5.1%Zn-O.6%Zr grain-refined nondendritic alloy, due to an increased concentration of vacancies in the lattice. This enhancement of diffusivity accelerates the dissolution of the nonequilibrium Mg7Zn3 phase. (Author)
