Collision Dynamics in Plasmas.
Abstract
The work has made significant contributions to the field of atomic collision physics. It has been concerned principally with: The energetics and dynamics of inelastic and reactive collisions; Investigations of the forces between ions and atoms by means of differential scattering experiments. Most earlier experimental work on ionic collisions has consisted of total cross-section measurements. Such studies were, and are, of great value, but taken by themselves are rather limited as to the information which they give concerning the detailed nature of the collisions studied. The research of this project has, in contrast, emphasized 'collision dynamics,' as given by measurements of the distributions in angle and/or kinetic energy of the collision products. (Author)
