Small Computer analysis of Regional Ocean Data.

Abstract

The study presents the results of an experiment in objective analysis of oceanographic data for a limited area. The objective analysis is designed to provide a reliable operational system for tactical use in coastal waters. It is shown that this approach makes it possible to obtain a very detailed analysis with good vertical consistency and that only a relatively small amount of highly accurate data is required. The procedure requires only a small computer and little computer time. This method will provide a basis for short-time forecasts of oceanographic parameters using only small computer centers or even time sharing systems. (Author)
