Harmonic Analysis of Satellite Sensed Temperatures along Latitudes of Both Hemispheres for the period 15 May to 28 July 1966.

Abstract

The object of the study is to examine the climatology of NIMBUS II satellite-sensed window-channel equivalent blackbody temperatures for the period 15 May to 28 July 1966. Fourier analysis was applied to these temperatures at selected latitudes in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The total variance, as well as the percentage contribution to variance by individual waves 1 through 8, along the selected latitudes is examined. In addition, correlation coefficients between adjacent key latitudes are computed and interpreted. (Author)
