Tesla Transformers,

Abstract

Following a general discussion of Tesla transformers, a detailed study of their theory is made. It is noted that the selection of a coupling factor k has a considerable influence on the maxium attainable transmission ratio. In addition, the relationship between the rated voltage and frequency of transformers of this type shows that the correct design is of improtance. Attenuation is treated in a spectial chapter. It is pointed out that the electric arc resistance generally plays an important part as a spark gap when used as a switching element on the primary side. (Author)
