Effective Solution of Certain Boundary Value Problems for Prismatic Variable Thickness Shells (Effektivnoe Reshenie Nekotorykh Granichnikh Zadach dlya Prizmaticheskikh Obolochek Peremennoi Tolshchiny),

Abstract

Equilibrium equations for shells, in contrast to classical equations, are fully compatible with physical boundary conditions. This paper considers the case where the pattern of the stress and deformation condition of the shell is subject to very insignificant change along the normal of the mean height. This case, called by I. N. Vekua an approximation of the order N=O, and representing a momentless theory, is supplemented in such a manner that the corresponding system of shell equations is common with three physical boundary conditions.
