Two-Photon Contribution to the Production of Spin Two Hadrons in the e(+)e(-) Annihilation Channel,

Abstract

The cross section for the process e(+) + e(-) f sup 0 is calculated and shown to be two orders of magnitude smaller than had been previously estimated. The angular distribution is correctly determined, and a comparison is made with other processes in which the f sup 0 2 gamma vertex occurs, notably the double bremsstrahlung process e(+) + e(-) to e(+) + e(-) + f sup 0. Possible experimental consequences are discussed. It is also shown that a direct coupling of the electromagnetic stress tensor and the f sup 0 field is consistent with the vector dominance model.
