Community Noise Exposure from Aircraft Operations at Lindbergh Field, San Diego, and North Island Naval Air Station.

Abstract

As a result of this study one is able to present both a composite picture of aircraft operations in the Lindbergh Field-NAS North Island area and a detailed description of the noise produced by these operations. Operational data, obtained both verbally and by field observations, include information on flight paths, flight profiles, engine power settings, and daily activity for both in-flight and ground operations. The noise associated with these operations has been summarized in the report in the form of basic graphs and contour plots which permit one to determine the noise produced in any selected community area from any one of a number of aircraft operations.
