Weathering of Plastics and Rubber Materials.

Abstract

The report has been prepared in response to a request for information on weathering and aging effects on plastic and rubber insulation materials for insultated electrical wire insulation. The following materials were of concern: polyvinyl chloride, Teflon FTE, irradiated modified polyolefin, radiation-crosslinked polyalkene primary insulation with radiation-crosslinked polyvinylidene fluoride (Kynar) outer insulation. A bibliography was compiled on aging effects on insulation both due to age and exposure to heat, cold or flexing. (Author)
