Validation of Colt-Tabor Bomb Baskets.

Abstract

Based on tests conducted by the USAEODC, PA the effectiveness of the Colt-Tabor Bomb Baskets has been determined. The open-bottom basket will adequately contain the blast from six sticks of 40% gelatin dynamite, and the closed-bottom basket will adequately contain the blast from five sticks of 40% gelatin dynamite. Both open- and closed-bottom baskets will contain low-velocity fragments from an IED containing 1 1/2 pounds of black powder. The baskets will not adequately contain the high-velocity fragments generated by more than 1/2 pound of dynamite. Tests were not conducted using 1/2 pound of dynamite or less. (Author)
