Dissociation Energies of Diatomic Rare Earth Molecules Dy2, Ho2, Er2, Tm2, and Yb2.

Abstract

The homonuclear diatomic molecules Dy2, Ho2, Er2, Tm2, and Yb2 have been found to exist over respective metals. Using ion-current ratios of diatomic to monoatomic species derived from a combination of Knudsen effusion and mass spectrometric techniques, the dissociation energies of these molecules have been determined.
