Investigations in Support of MK 7 Jet Blast Deflector Cooling Module Design.

Abstract

The MK 7 Jet Blast Deflector was designed by the Naval Air Engineering Center to provide control of shipboard flight deck environment for operations with the Fl4 and other aircraft. The study describes the various design, experimental and analytical efforts undertaken to develop the cooling modules for the Jet Blast Deflector System. Analytical and experimental techniques were developed to deal with jet exhaust plume velocity-temperature contour maps in order to project the thermal conditions of the untested Fl 4 case. (Author)
