Thermal Expansion Measurements in the Nb2O5-Ta2O5 System,

Abstract

Optical interferometry and x-ray diffractometry have been used to measure the thermal expansion of selected compositions in the Nb2O5 - Ta2O5 system. A 70 wt% Nb2O5 - 30 wt% Ta2O5 composition has a coefficient of thermal expansion of 0.12 X 10 to the minus 6th power in the temperature range 22 to 346C. Coefficients of thermal expansion for three orthogonal directions of 99.9% pure Nb2O5 were measured over two temperature ranges. (Author)
