Abstract

The economic advantages of large scale ocean carriers of oil and ores have developed considerable pressure for the development of deep ports in the United States providing drafts in excess of 60 feet. The report is a study of Dunkirk and Le Havre, France, Antwerp, Belgium, and Rotterdam and Amsterdam, Netherlands. An economic appraisal and environmental factors of the ports are reviewed.
