Synthesis of Rare Earth Compounds and Study of Their Magnetic Optical and Semiconducting Properties

Abstract

The authors have explored the EuO system in detail and have correlated the chemical and physical measurements in this classic ferromagnetic semiconducting material. Furthermore, the authors have generalized the findings by extending the studies to other magnetic semiconductors, notably the Th3P4 type gadolinium sulfide and to the extended solid solution system Gd(x)Se(1-x).
