Effect of Collisions on Electrostatic Probe Measurements

Abstract

An experimental investigation of the length effects as a function of collisions in the sheath of a slightly ionized hypersonic flow regime for cylindrical ion collecting proves is undertaken. The results indicate a strong dependence of the length effect on the number of collisions in the sheath and also on the degree of ionization of the media.
