New Possibilities of Applying Hollow Guide Vanes to Increase the Efficiency of a Turbo-Jet,

Abstract

A new approach to the arrangement of steam bleeds for recuperative feed water heating is suggested. According to the project, steam extraction should take place both at outer and inner perimeter of the annulus of steam admission to guide wheel (all over the circumference), steam bled at the inner perimeter being led outside though hollow guide vanes. Experiments were carried out on an expecially adapted test rig to explain the influence of such steam bleeding on the magnitude of end losses. The relative steam bleeding has been considered as a parameter. (Author)
