Rapid Access of Solar Electrons to the Polar Caps.

Abstract

Simultaneous measurement of solar electrons and protons in interplanetary space and in the magnetotail were made during the onset of the 2 November 1969 solar particle event. These particle measurements, when compared with continuous trans-polar VLF measurements on three propagation paths, indicate the solar electrons have access to the magnetotail and north polar cap with a time delay t such that O approximately equal or < t less than 1 min.
