Breakdown in the Near Field of Re-Entry Vehicle Antennas.

Abstract

The research included: (a) a detailed study of the bounds on the near electric field of antennas, (b) calculation of the near electric field of specific antennas, (c) calculation of the breakdown power for various antenna configurations, (d) the effect of time-varying plasmas and non-linearites on microwave breakdown, (e) high temperature effects on breakdown, and (f) a study of miscellaneous reentry effects.
