Statistical Analyses for the Weibull Distribution with Emphasis on Censored Sampling

Abstract

The report comprises three related papers on inferential procedures for the Weibull or extreme-value distribution based on censored samples. In Chapter 1 a simple, unbiased estimator, based on a censored sample, is proposed for the scale parameter of the extreme-value distribution. Chapter 2 represents a continuation of the material in Chapter 1 with emphasis on combining independent lots. A study of the saving in experiment time with censored sampling and a numerical example are also presented. In Chapter 3 tables are provided for obtaining confidence limits on the parameters or reliability based on the maximum likelihood estimators for selected censoring and sample sizes.
