Methodology for Inter-Depot Transfers.

Abstract

Because of shifts in demand patterns, the Army wholesale supply system is subject to distribution imbalances; i.e., geographic distribution of assets among CONUS depots which does not reflect the geographic pattern of demand. A probabilistic model is developed to determine when inter-depot transfers for correcting such imbalances would be economical. The model is reduced to a series of tables. Implementing guidance for use of the tables is developed. (Author)
