Multi-Purpose-Instrument Research: A New Measurement Technique and Property Table Generation.
Abstract
Described is a Multi-purpose-Instrument which has demonstrated a new temperature-free technique to observe heat transfer and thermal transport properties by means of capacitance measurements. This technique is analyzed for a system of simple geometry. For a thick wall structure under programmed heat input capacitance-time curves are produced which depend on thermal conductivity only. Also described briefly are measurements on a test sample in gaseous and liquid state to observe; p-v-T, dielectric constant thermal conductivity, vapor pressure, saturation densities, thermal expansion coefficient, compressibility and specific heats. A computer program is developed to utilize p-v-T, dielectric and conductivity data to determine virial coefficients and values of intermolecular force parameters. (Author)
