Brake Fluid,

Abstract

The Russian patent describes a brake fluid based on a mixture of n-butanols and polyols. It is distinguished by the fact that to increase the operational properties of the brake fluid a technical mixture of polyols with 5 to 12 carbon atoms per molecule which boil above 230 degrees centigrade obtained from high-boiling by-products of the synthesis of dimethyl dioxane from isobutylene and formaldehyde, separated from the aqueous and 'oily' layers by known methods, is used as the polyols.
