Procedure for the Preparation of Polyolefin-Base Detergent Lubricating Oil Additives with Cation Content,

Abstract

The Hungaria patent describes a procedure for the preparation of polyolefin-base detergent lubricating oil additive with high cation content. The preparation occurs from the reaction of a polyolefin and phosphorus pentasulfide. The principle of this invention is that acids are formed as the products of a reaction between a polyolefin and phosphorous pentasulfide which has been partially hydrolyzed with water vapor. The acid products obtained in this way are then neutralized by one or more of the following compounds: alkali metal oxides, alkaline earth metal oxides, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum salts, ammonium hydroxide.
