Investigations, Tests, and Experiments on the Mechanical Strength and Breakdown Characteristics of Certain Overconsolidated Clay Shales.

Abstract

This is the second of a two part series reporting on laboratory experimentation on clay shales, particularly their strengths and breakdown characteristics. The first report dealt in detail with the program of laboratory sedimentation, consolidation and shear of fine-grained muscovite. Token fabrics are reproduced and trends of fabric evidence are presented in terms of the results given in first report. Computer results are given. Tables, figures, graphs, photos and an extensive bibliography are given. (Author)
