Investigation of Nonmetallic Waterstops. Report 8. Effect of Specimen Size and Low Temperature on Waterstop Test Results.

Abstract

To provide information concerning the relationship between test results obtained from small test specimens of waterstop material as now specified in Corps of Engineers Specifications and results obtained from full-width waterstop specimens tested with stress applied in the direction in which it would be applied by joint movement as well as information concerning the effect of low temperature on waterstops under stress, six waterstops were tested, including two- and three-bulb shapes of natural rubber and polyvinylchloride (PVC), a three-bulb neoprene, and a corrugated flange shape PVC.
