Plastic Explosive Rheology.

Abstract

Two samples of Plastic Explosive No 4 (PE4) have been examined by parallel-plate plastometer. Separate static and dynamic theoretical analyses have enabled the derivation of the yield stress together with the shear-hardening coefficient and the plastoviscosity as a function of strain-rate together with the (logarithmic) flow curve. It is concluded that parallel-plate plastometry is a useful laboratory method for characterising the rheological properties of PE4. (Author)
