Measurements of Blast Pressures in the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex During Excavation for the Expansion Project.

Abstract

The results of measurements of pressures experienced by a dust barrier near underground blasting are presented. The measurements were made during excavation for the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex Expansion Project. The necessity of a massive plug type barrier for separating the mining environment of the construction area from the office building environment of the main complex was proven. Pressures were shown to be predictable by extrapolation of data on pressures generated by explosives in vented chambers. (Author)
