A Passive Array-Processor for Tracking and Signal Extraction,

Abstract

The passive array-processor considered here employs techniques that were developed for monopulse radars to perform the tasks of target detection and tracking. Extracting the target signal from a noisy background is accomplished using an adaptive multichannel filter. A complete monopulse processor that is easy to implement digitally is described. The variance of the bearing estimator for this process is derived and this is compared with the variance obtained from computer simulations. The process offers a very powerful bearing determination technique to be used with passive linear arrays. (Author)
