High Temperature, High Pressure Crystal Growth Furnace.

Abstract

A unique resistance heated graphite furnace system was designed, manufactured and tested to provide specialized conditions for the growth of single crystals of refractory materials under conditions of high temperature, pressure and purity. The 6 inch diameter by 10 inch long furnace hot zone temperature is precisely maintained for uniform or gradient operation by three independently controlled heaters. The furnace chamber may be cycled during operation directly from high vacuum to pressures of 50 atmospheres, with operating temperatures up to 2800C. Special features include high purity insulation, automatic programmable operation, radial plus axial viewing ports, and a quick opening, hinged, full access door. (Author)
