Description of a High Pressure Electrofluid Dynamic (EFD) Facility.

Abstract

A facility is described which simulates EFD generator operation using high pressure air as the working fluid. The humidity, temperature, mass flow, and pressure of the air can be controlled and monitored in two nearly identical air systems. The working fluid is supplied to one of three high pressure list stands enclosing experimental EFD conversion channels. Excitation voltage of up to 150 KV and generate voltages up to 2000 KV are supplied. Types and specifications of various types of instruments are described as well as the types of experiments performed. (Author)
