Survey of Some Aspects of Swirling Flows.

Abstract

The survey on selected topics in the theory of swirling flows in ducts is written as much from the point of view of clarifying and inter-relating the various aspects of the flow phenomena as to facilitate calculations pertaining to the design and performance of rotating flows in ducts. The particular topics discussed are wave motion, Taylor-Proudman column, vortex breakdown, turbulence and energy separation and transfer. The survey includes a detailed analysis of the equations of motion. (Author)
