Localized Perturbation Hamiltonian and the Friedel Sum Rule.

Abstract

It is shown that the localized perturbation model Hamiltonian is consistent with the Friedel Sum Rule obtained using charge neutrality arguments. The authors conclude that the localized perturbation model appears to be applicable to real physical systems, which result contradicts the conclusions of a recent paper by Stern. (Author)
