Estimate of the Influence of Disturbing Accelerations and Tilts on the Readings of a Marine Gyrostabilized Gravimeter (Otsenka Vliyaniya Vozmushchayushchikh Uskorenii i Naklonov na Pokazaniya Morskogo Girostabilizirovannogo Gravimetra),

Abstract

A description is given for a set of apparatus used in experimental studies in several expeditions, the purpose of which was to verify the theory of marine gravimetric determinations and to obtain characteristics of the background of disturbing accelerations during observations on surface ships. The results are given of the laboratory and marine investigations of this set of apparatus. A method for computing the corrections for the influence of disturbing accelerations and tilts is described. It has been shown that for this set of apparatus the corrections for the orbital motion of the ship and for joint influence of the gyroplatform tilts and accelerations with a 10-gal amplitude of horizontal accelerations, do not exceed 2 mgal, i.e., they are located within the limits of the gravimeter's reading accuracy, and with a 50-gal amplitude of horizontal accelerations they reach 40 mgal and 10 mgal, respectively.
