Electromagnetic Wave Propagation and Source Radiation in Space-Time Periodic Media.

Abstract

The electromagnetic wave equations for the fields, potentials, and Hertz vectors are derived and a Lorentz gauge is given for space-time dependent media. Electromagnetic wave propagation, electric and magnetic dipole radiation, and Cerenkov and transition radiation in sinusoidally space-time periodic dielectric, plasma, and uniaxial plasma are studied and numerous radiation patterns are given. Finally the study is extended to general space-time periodic media. (Author)
