Performance of a Parabolic Antenna with an Offset Feed.

Abstract

Performance of a parabolic cylinder excited by an offset line-source has been investigated by digital computer techniques. Performance parameters monitored include gain, beamwidth and main-lobe-to-coma lobe ratio. Axial focusing has been incorporated in the calculation for purposes of maximizing antenna gain. Antenna patterns for cases of a uniformly illuminated aperture and for an aperture with a 10 dB cosine taper are presented for values of f/D ranging between 1.0 and 2.0 and for lateral feed displacements up to one fourth of the focal length.
