The Effect of Strain Rate on the Constitutive Equations of Rocks,
Abstract
A number of ways to generalize the inviscid cap model for rocks to include strain rate sensitivity are proposed. Available experimental results on the effects of strain rate are reviewed and the question of whether an attempt should be made to fit a rate sensitive model for a particular rock is discussed. It is concluded that such an effort is inadvisable at the present time. (Author)
