Automatic Design.

Abstract

A design system concept has been developed for machines in which a force of motion transformation is involved. The system, designed to utilize the computational facility, programmable logic and information storage capability of digital computers, is intended to combine stored programs and information storage capability to facilitate design by automation and to be operable in both interactive and batch processing modes. The basis of the system is the design of mechanisms, and utilizes preprogrammed methods. Thus mechanism synthesis, kinematic and force analyses, with schemes for parts configuration assignment and development of dynamic characteristics are combined to develop an automatic mechanism design system. A scheme for the development of automatic component design is also described, with a number of programs or program definitions for completing the development. Program listings and user instructions are included. (Author)
