Experimental Modelling of Network-Like Systems

Abstract

Techniques for construction of mathematical models of linear, time-invariant, network-like systems are presented. The problem considered falls in the general category of the identification problem in control system theory. Noiseless measurements are assumed for development of the algorithms. The thesis covers two areas. The first area is concerned with time-domain techniques for determining the system and input matrices. First, a model adaptive algorithm is derived assuming the entire state input vector is measured. Secondly, a non-linear observer parameter estimator technique is presented for the case where a subset of states and the input vector is measured. The second area is concerned with extracting the parameter submatrices of the network-like system from the system input and system matrices.
