Research on Electrochemical Energy Conversion Systems.

Abstract

The technical work reported concerns two areas of research on electrochemical conversion systems. First the investigation involves the study of cathode materials such as organic depolarizers of the benzofuroxan structure. The mechanism for the electro-reduction of benzofuroxan in aqueous solutions has been clarified. Next the report concerns itself with developing improved methods of treating electrode kinetic data. Specifically, attention has been devoted to methods of calculating values for the exchange current and transfer coefficients for reactions that are combined charge transfer and concentration controlled.
