Investigation of the Development and Implementation of Multi-Experiment Control Computer System.

Abstract

The Chemistry Department of State University of New York at Stony Brook is equipped with an IBM 1800 system, a data acquisition and control computer. The computer performs simultaneous control of a number of on-line experiments in a shared-resource mode. The report starts with an introduction to the use of computers in process environments with specific reference to the concept on interrupt. The last part of the report deals with recommendations on possible multi-expeririment control applications. Recommended architecture of control computers, advantages of multi-area, multi-programming executive system and role of mini-computers are the essence of the concluding section. (Author)
