Exact Electromagnetic Matrix Elements and Exact Selection Rules for Hydrogenic Atoms.

Abstract

The exact matrix elements in simple closed form for the electromagnetic interaction p. A are obtained for hydrogenic atoms. The usual expansions in terms of retardation are not needed. Instead one may use the angular momentum basis for quantized photons. The high photon frequency behavior of the matrix elements is discussed. (Author)
