Field Structure of an Electromagnetic Waveguide and Mechanism of Its Entering a Dissipative Medium,

Abstract

The phenomenon of local periods of antenna receiving voltage was observed by recording a transmitter which is located above ground, 30 km away from the point of reception. An adequate theory had to be developed for describing these periods. In the present report, examinations were based on W. O. Schumann's equations (1): time being eliminated, thus yielding a representation of maximum field strengths of elliptically polarized electromagnetic waves showing only a local dependence. A subsequent expansion of the field strength function in Fourier series helps to explain the result. (Author)
