Experimental Study of Shock Wave Generation in the Case of Pulsed Breakdown of Fluid,

Abstract

In the initial stage of expansion of a spark channel in liquid the development of instabilities in the channel plasma is observed. These are accompanied by the emergence of a series of shock waves in the liquid. The powerful shock wave which is observed during the pulsed breakdown of a liquid is formed from the series of shock waves in the zone of formation of the shock front. The pulsed breakdown of liquid and study of the dynamics of formation of the secondary shock waves apparently can serve as a sensitive and convenient method for simulation and clarification of the nature of some forms of plasma instabilities.
