The Initial Stage of the Process of Electrical Erosion (Dielectric Breakdown),

Abstract

An attempt is made to present a general theory of dielectrics breakdown of all dielectrics, based on conventional energetic considerations. The theory of thermal breakdown and Townsend's equations are derived as special cases of this general theory. An equation is derived for the description of the phenomena during the breakdown of dielectrics. It is applicable to dielectrics in all states of aggregation, since no restrictions are imposed mathematically on the properties of the dielectrics.
