Resonant Excitation of a Plane Dielectric Waveguide through a Supercritical Layer by a Planar Wave (Rezonansnoe Vozbuzhdenie Ploskogo Dielektricheskogo Volnovoda Cherez Zakriticheskii sloi Ploskoi Volnoi),

Abstract

It is demonstrated that when a plane dielectric waveguide is excited through a slit from a medium with relative electrical permeability exceeding the square of moderation of the waveguide, resonant effects occur, manifested as a sharp increase in the field intensity in the waveguide and a decrease in the reflection factor. Using the approximation of weak coupling of the waveguide with the medium and low losses in the waveguide, the relationships between fields in the system are determined, as well as the conditions of maximum excitation of the waveguide and the dependence of the modulus and phase of the reflection factor on the angular and frequency mistuning.
