Numerical Method for Synthesizing General Directivity Patterns for Sonar Arrays.

Abstract

The report presents a simple method of synthesizing patterns of radiated energy for arrays of general geometry and excitation which operate in a linear manner. The mathematical foundation of the method is demonstrated by means of linear algebra. Numerical techniques suggested by the resulting equations are illustrated by three examples which arose from actual sonar design problems not solvable by conventional methods. (Author)
