X-Ray Spectra of Iron Phosphonate.

Abstract

The X-ray powder diffraction data were obtained for three iron phosphonate compounds: Fe(MMP)3, Fe(EEP)3, and Fe(IMP)3. The X-ray patterns for these compounds were similar to the X-ray patterns of other trivalent transition metal ions with phosphonate and phosphinate linkages. A very strong peak observed in the X-ray spectra of these compounds corresponds to the d spacing which is related to the repeat distance between metal atoms. The d spacing was observed to increase from Fe(MMP)3 - Fe(EEP)3 - Fe(IMP)3, and this was attributed to the alkoxy group size occupying the open space in the framework of these compounds. (Author)
